Here’s the tiniest little tweak you can make to your YouTube videos to increase organic reach in your local area.

YouTube is the second largest search engine. Second only to Google Search itself.

YouTube has been called “the search engine of the future” by many and that’s one of the reasons I place such a high priority on it… Even encouraging you to devote time to YouTube before other social media platforms like Facebook or Instagram (more on that in my Mission & Ministry presentation that you can watch here).
Churches and schools, in many ways, need to act like local businesses online. It’s your hope and prayer that people who are, well, anywhere, but ideally physically in your location interact with your content.
One way to do that is to work on your YouTube SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Give this a try to boost your YouTube SEO:
As you upload to YouTube, you may want to consider taking the extra 8 seconds (no joke), to tag your location.
To do this, as you upload your video, look for the “Show More” button.
Then, scroll until you see “Recording date and location.” Search for your city or town in the box.
Now, when you look at your video after it has uploaded, you’ll see the location hyperlinked near the description.
As with most of these “hacks,” I can’t promise that this will be a silver bullet. In fact, I can promise you it won’t be. The real “silver bullet” is uploading high-quality content consistently.
Yeah, that takes a lot longer than 8 seconds unfortunately.
But, as a general principle, as a “local business,” —air quotes— you should be denoting your location wherever possible. Adding an additional onramp for people to discover you, especially when it takes so little effort, never hurts!
